Italy 2019 - Cagliari & Oristano

we arrive in Sardinia - 30 degrees, sunny with a little breeze......step one is the rental car, a little Fiat Panda with GPS....I set out reluctantly but I am quickly relieved to find a much slower pace of traffic and entering the city of Cagliari feels like driving in Sechelt - no worry, no hurry and no tailgating!.....and the GPS will be just fine.....we check into our accommodations then head to the Poetto area where I show the ladies our first Sardinia house (I think)......next we go to  the beach across from our second house and do a little reminiscing - hey I was only nine or ten years old - then after a couple of "you lucky bugger"s off we go for dinner further up the beach.....it is a perfect night and I regret not planning to spend more time here and in Cagliari as the pace and atmosphere is so welcoming and relaxing....we head out in the morning and stop at Spiaggia Su Giudeu for a perfect dip in the Med'.....then we continue up to Oristano for the night.....Jess puts in some work hours while Linda and I wander around this lovely old town.....we head to Alghero the next day and the trip is absolutely spectacular......more beautiful coastal Big Sur competition......we stop in the towns of S'Archittu and Bosa along the way.....yup - this seems to be what Sardinia is all about........happy to be here.....oh yes, very happy to be here!!!!!

house 1 - I think.....everything has changed so much.....no more cactus on the side of the street!!

house 2 - fenced and gated.....

house 3 (for me).....walk across the street to the beach....that is The Devil's Saddle in the background...best sandbox ever!

the ladies strolling along Via Poetto....pretty fantastic being able to do this....

we find a great little restaurant on the beach and have a perfect meal watching the sunset.....

this is a great Sardinian red and very affordable - 8 Euros a bottle in the restaurant!!!

on the way from Cagliari to Oristano we stop at Su Giudeu for our first plunge into the Mediterranean....

now that's what I'm talking about!!......

the coastal road to Teurada is beautiful.....

Oristano is relaxed and tropical......

Jess works back at the hotel while we explore a little......the cathedral has a moorish feel to it.....

we stay in a great old hotel with a big balcony that overlooks the piazza......
Jess gets several hours of work in while we - well you know - get several hours of not working in......

the next day we leave Oristano and decide to stop in S'Archittu to explore.....

this is an Agave (used in making tequila)...the flower happens once every 25 years or so after this the plant dies......think about that next time you are doing tequila shots!!

we walk the seawall along the surfer's section of the bay then head toward the point....

nice tranquil family beach at this end......

down here!!!

just a little cool down before we hit the road.....

we stop at Bosa for lunch - again on the beach.....man I do love this island.....

that's caprese salad and cala mari....ok and vermentino wine - another good local treat....

this is the little Fiat Panda that is hauling us about.......

Alghero lies somewhere ahead on the coastline........

a lovely bit of paradise.........
