we are pulling out of coastal California…so sad to go. Linda and I both vow to return - I wonder if that will stand up in a court of law?? So the route to Vegas involves a side trip through Yosemite and an over night in Mammoth Lakes on the other side of Yosemite Park…. we get an early start and head for the Sierra Nevadas from the central California Coast. The climb from San Simeon to Yosemite takes half of a day and takes you through a lot of different geography - lots of wine estates, massive farms and natural beauty. The trip takes you almost 10,000 feet above sea level at some points and one of the great vistas is found at Glacier Point. The story of the glaciers being as much as 1000 feet thick above these mountains is amazing but the views are even better. We take in as much as we are able then coast down the other side of the mountain range into Mammoth Lakes….
