we have decided to explore Monterey. There is a classic car show on that day and the place is packed. We park a mile and a half from the town centre and walk along the shoreline. There are lots of shore creatures to ponder. When we arrive at Cannery Row, the cars are really quite amazing - some stock and some custom. The smell of exhaust in the air overcomes the ocean's scent. This is the real accomplishment of man - right up both nostrils. And the sound of the custom engines being revved up mutes the sound of seabirds and off shore winds. We browse a while then decide to leave some space for real enthusiasts to enjoy so we head for Asimolar Beach to watch the surfers. Saturday in Monterey….you never know what you are going to find….
